Swansea City have named former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal as their new manager to replace the sacked Paul Clement on an initial deal until the end of the season.

Clement was dismissed as Swansea boss earlier this month after a run of nine defeats in 11 matches left them bottom of the Premier League, with midfielder Leon Britton overseeing the last two games in caretaker charge.

The Welsh club have now turned to Portuguese boss Carvalhal, who was dismissed by the Owls on Christmas Eve having claimed just six wins in the Championship this term.

West Ham are chasing Brentford striker Scott Hogan after a failed move for Jermain Defoe

First, there was Jermain Defoe and now it is Brentford’s Scott Hogan, it seems West Ham are desperate to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

The Hammers were told by Defoe’s current club Sunderland he is not for sale, much to the relief of Black Cats boss David Moyes.

Defoe, of course, started his professional career with the Irons and a return looked on the cards for the 34-year-old.

However, even the clubs owners have realised just how important Defoe is to the Black Cats chances of staying in the Premier League. Now the Hammers have turned their attentions to Scott Hogan.

Fulham have named Scott Parker as their permanent head coach following a three-month spell in caretaker charge.

Parker took the reins after Claudio Ranieri was sacked at the end of February and, despite overseeing the Cottagers  relegations from the Premier League, he has been entrusted to take charge of the club full time.

The former England international guided Fulham to three top-flight wins in a row after relegation was confirmed by a 4-1 defeat at Watford on April 2, but that winning run came to an end against Wolves last weekend.

Premier League leaders Manchester City have sealed the club-record signing of Aymeric Laporte, the defender joining from Athletic Bilbao after his €65million release clause was reportedly met.

A deal for the uncapped Frenchman has been mooted since Pep Guardiola s arrival in 2016 and was finally completed on Tuesday, with the 23-year-old signing a contract until 2023.

Laporte, who made 222 appearances for Athletic, will wear the number 14 shirt at City.
