Juventus keen on Gabriel Paletta

Italian giants Juventus are keeping close tabs on Parma centre-back Gabriel Paletta, .

Despite having some excellent options at the back, Antonio Conte is always looking at potential targets and he has now set his sights on the Argentine defender.

Paletta has managed to kick-start his career at Ennio Tardini and is now regarded as one of league s top defenders.

Due to his Italian roots, the 28-year-old has recently made a debut for Italy national team, and he was in very good form as the Azzurri lost to Spain in an international friendly.

The player, who had had a very disappointing spell with Liverpool before joining Parma via Boca Juniors, is on the radar of several top clubs and could be leaving I Ducali in the summer.

Since arriving at Ennio …

AC Milan wrap up deal for Agazzi

Italian TV station Mediaset has learned that Cagliari goalkeeper Michael Agazzi has agreed a pre-contract deal with AC Milan.

The 29-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and he has reportedly reached an agreement to join the Rossoneri on a free transfer at the end of the season.

AC Milan were on the lookout for a long-term successor to Christian Abbiati and they have decided to go with Agazzi.

The talented shot-stopper spent his early years at South Tyrol and Triestina, but his career really kicked off as he completed a switch to Cagliari in 2010.

Agazzi went on to make 122 Serie A appearances for Isolani before joining Chievo on a short-term loan in the January transfer window.

He now looks set to complete a big club move, but the form…

West Ham making the same mistakes in the transfer market

Olympique Lyonnais forward Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid and was a target for West Ham last year.

West Ham United are reportedly in bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer, with a view to challenging for a top-six finish in the Premier League.

But with the Londoners having missed out on realistic targets the previous summer as a result of too much ambition, are the Hammers making the same mistake?

Lacazette/Giroud will never join West Ham

Last summer, West Ham United made Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette their number one transfer target, and had a bid of £43m rejected. The same summer, they were targeting then Olympique de Marseille centre-forward Michy Batshuayi and had a £31m offer turne…

Paulinho reveals Barcelona offer

Barcelona have made an offer to sign Paulinho from Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande, the Brazil midfielder has claimed.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has been heavily linked with Barca in one of the close-season s biggest transfer sagas, but Paulinho is another option for the Camp Nou club with new head coach Ernesto Valverde reportedly keen to strengthen in the middle of the park.

The 28-year-old, who signed a new contract in January until 2020 after Guangzhou made it clear he was crucial to their plans, denied reports last month that suggested Bayern Munich had made an offer for him.

But he was proud to discuss an approach from Barca, even though he concedes their interest could leave him with a difficult decision to make.

They ma…

Klopp backs Gerrard for management return after Aston Villa sacking

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is adamant Steven Gerrard will return to management but hopes he takes some time away from football after being axed by Aston Villa.

Gerrard was sacked following Villa s defeat to Fulham on Thursday, which left the club above the Premier League s relegation zone on only goals scored, having picked up just two wins in the opening 11 matches of the campaign.

Previously touted by many as Klopp s eventual successor at Anfield, Gerrard must now rebuild his reputation after a disappointing stint with Villa that came following success in Scotland with Rangers.

Klopp does not expect that to be an issue for the former Liverpool captain, although he hopes he does not rush back into a role.

I m very sure he will come back from that. D…

Cristiano Ronaldo criticism wrong – Solskjaer backs Man Utd superstar´s work ethic

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted it is wrong to criticise Cristiano Ronaldo s work ethic as he launched a staunch defence of the Red Devils superstar.

Ronaldo was the hero again on Wednesday, scoring the match-winning goal in a thrilling 3-2 Champions League win over Atalanta, having trailed 2-0 at half-time.

The five-time Ballon d Or winner has scored six goals in eight matches across all competitions since returning to United from Juventus, though there has been some scrutiny of the 36-year-old amid the club s struggle for form.

Ronaldo has been criticised for not working hard or defending enough and as United prepare to host bitter Premier League rivals Liverpool on Sunday, Solskjaer backed the all-time leading scorer in men s internatio…

Chelsea axe Ancelotti

Chelsea moved quickly to fire Carlo Ancelotti with the Italian manger dismissed just hours after the final game of the season.

The Blues were beaten 1-0 by 10-man Everton at Goodison Park on the final day of the Premier League, a result which capped off an altogether disappointing season for the reigning champions.

And clearly owner Roman Abramovich and the club s board held Ancelotti responsible for the poor results, with the Italian losing his job despite winning the Premier League-FA Cup double last season.

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Carlo Ancelotti parted company with the club today (Sunday, 22 May), the club said in a statement on its website.

The owner and board would like to thank Carlo for his contribution and achievements since tak…

Emma Hayes hailed Sjoeke Nusken after the German scored her second brace in as many games during Chelsea’s 3-0 first-leg victory over Ajax in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The versatile forward came into the game on a high from her double in the Blues’ 3-1 win over title rivals Arsenal in the Women’s Super League on Friday.

Her double came after England winger Lauren James scored the opener at Johan Cruijff ArenA.
